Fuyuki Asano, PhD

Fuyuki is a postdoctoral fellow working jointly in the Fuller and Arrigoni labs.  He earned his Ph.D. in Medical Science from the University of Tsukuba in 2023. During his doctoral research, he elucidated a molecular pathway of sleep regulation and identified the brain regions where this molecular pathway regulates sleep, using genetic approaches. In the Fuller and Arrigoni labs, he focuses on understanding how sleep/wake behavior is regulated at the neural circuit level, employing techniques such as optogenetics and cellular imaging to manipulate neural circuits. To comprehensively approach the mechanism of sleep regulation, he is actively seeking to acquire a variety of technologies.  Fuyuki is a also a recent recipient of the prestigious JSPS Overseas Research Fellowship.
